
Carlis Theren Nester
Carlis Theren (C.T.) Nester, 86, of Willis, Va., went to be with the Lord Friday morning June 28, 2013. He was a longtime member of the Topeco Church of the Brethren; deacon and a devoted choir member. Theren was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 and a member of the VFW, Hillsville Post 1115. Theren retired from Willis Trucking Company where he received a reward for over a million miles of safe driving. He was a dedicated Red Cross Blood donor donating over 21 gallons. He felt that donating blood was his way of giving back. He is preceded in death by his parents Thompson (Tompie) and Maggie Branscome Nester, his precious daughter Judy Ann Nester, and brother Steve Nester.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Regenia Reece Nester; three daughters, Sandra and Richard Widejko of Bennettsville, SC, Jennifer Nester of Roanoke, VA, Sharon and Shannon Zeman of Floyd, VA; brothers Forest and Barbara Nester of Virginia Beach, VA, Cletis and Barbara Nester of Virginia Beach, VA, Avis and Lois Nester of Willis, VA; sister Reda and Walter Burnett, Dugspur, VA; grandchildren Daniel and Heather Belcher, Jessica Zeman, Jenny Hale, Ryan and Maggie Widejko; Great grandchildren Colin Cox, Elliott Cox, and Randall Belcher; and several nieces and nephews. A special Thank You to Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to “C.T.” during his illness.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday July 1, 2013 at the Topeco Church of the Brethren with Rev. Mike Varner officiating. Interment to follow at the Reece Cemetery in Dugspur with Military Rites by the Grover King VFW Post #1115 and Masonic Rites by the Floyd Masonic Lodge #329. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30,2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home.
