Troy Alden Higgs

Troy Alden Higgs, 92 of Willis, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah & Ocie Gallimore Higgs; two sisters, Margaret Lindsey & husband David, Lucille McDaniel; two brothers, Erbie Higgs & wife Verna, Gentril Higgs & wife Shirley; son-in-law, Wendell Criner; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Higgs. He retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 30 years of service and was a lifelong farmer. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Effie Cox Higgs; sons & daughter-in-law, Jewell Higgs, Doug & Brenda Higgs; daughter, Diane Criner; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
