Robert L. Young, Jr.

Robert L. (Bob, Bobby) Young, Jr. passed away February 7, 2010 with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marie & Robert L. Young.

He is survived by his wife Tammy and daughter Kaitlyn. He is also survived by Tammy’s children that loved him dearly Sarah Beckner & husband Brad, Melissa Merrill & husband, Dave and Bobby Haynes. Eight grandchildren Meagan, Olivia, Jared, Caylee, Riely, Devon, Ian, & Hannah; Twin Sister Barbara Allen & husband John;Nephews Sam & Patrick;In-laws Kaye & Frank Sellers, Jim & Elaine Dull; and Numerous other relatives.

Bob was an accomplished trombonist playing with many Big Band Orchestra’s. He taught Band and Special Education for many years in Botetourt & Floyd counties before suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2004.

A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday February 10, 2010 at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 11, 2010 at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Giessler officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to BISSWVA (Brain Injury Services of South WestVirginia) in Bobby’s name. (BISSWVA, 302 2nd Street, 3rd Floor,Roanoke, VA 24011)

The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice and the many Health care professionals over the years. We also wish to thank the Floyd community at large for the countless acts of kindness & generosity since Bob’s horrific accident.
