
Cheryl Sweeney
Cheryl Sweeney, age 57, of Floyd VA, died at home on Saturday August 14, 2010. Cher was born October 31, 1952 in Philadelphia to Jack and Irene Kalick. She graduated from Moore College of Art with a BFA in Textile Design and worked in the arts throughout her life. On September 19, 1978 she married Daniel Sweeney.
Cher is survived by her husband, Daniel Sweeney, two sons, Daniel Sweeney Jr. of Copper Hill VA, Robert Sweeney of Willis VA, two grandchildren, Porter Jones Sweeney and Margo Sabine MacSweeney, a sister Andrea Glazer of Philadelphia PA, and two nieces, Robyn Janczak of Chester Springs, PA and Leslie Stewart of Winchester, VA.
Cher was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister as well as a passionate and celebrated artist. She traveled throughout the United States painting, teaching, and exhibiting her poetic landscapes and delicate botanical drawings. Her work may be found in private and corporate collections nationwide. Cher was a vibrant human being who loved deeply and was loved deeply by her family and friends. With dignity and grace, she left us with an indomitable spirit and open heart.
A Funeral Mass will be held at11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at All Saints Church in Floyd VA. Burial will follow the mass at Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd, VA. Relatives and friends are welcomed to the mass and/or burial service.
