Claude (Shorty) Newton Keith

Claude “Shorty” Newton Keith, 82, of Floyd, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

Shorty served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by wife, Ocie Boyd Keith; Parents, Dura and Lizena Mae Keith; Step Son, David Boyd; Step Daughter, Carol Boyd Settiff; Step Son, Ray Boyd; Brother, Clarence Keith; Sister, Hazel Keith; and Brother, Fred Keith.

Survivors include Brother and Sister-In-Law, Frank and Peggy Keith; Sisters and Brothers-In-Law, Lydia Burgess, Eula (Peggy) Hurt, Lula and Hassell Semones, Clara Graham, Freeda and Lowell Trail; 10 Nephews; 8 Nieces; Several Great Nieces and Nephews; Special Step Daughter and husband, Martha and Larry Turpin; Sister-In-Law and Step Daughter, Margaret Keith; Step Daughter and husband, Sue and Richard Howell; Step Son and Wife, Pat and Sylvia Boyd; 14 Grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Military Honors by the Floyd V.F.W. Post # 7854 and American Legion Post # 127.

Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Maberry Funeral Home.
