Charlie Preston Howard

Charlie Preston Howard, 70, of Riner, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 2, 2010 at his home.

He was born on May 11, 1939 in Montgomery County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nellie Howard; brother, Earlie Ray Howard; and sisters, Maxine Miller, Shirley Reed, and Sandra Gibson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 yrs, Joyce; Daughters and Sons-in-law, Mary Jane and Roland Wright, Betty Jean & Eric Frazier, Lora Ann Howard, Linda Sue Howard. Sons & Daughters-in-law, Jr. Lee & Martha Howard of Riner, VA, Charlie Ray Howard, Tony Lee & Sandy Howard, Lee Curry Howard, Charlie Wayne (C.W.) Howard; 17 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; Sisters, Melba Kozar and friend William Lucado, Stella Kozar , Lucy & George Hale, Annie and Richard Caldwell. Charlie’s special children Ryleigh, & Tyler. Very Special Friends & Family, Addie & Charlotte Martin, Crystal Keith, Gary Long, Larry Martin, & Reliable Sales of Radford.

Mr. Howard served in the United States Air Force. He was a truck driver and owned his own business until becoming disabled. He never met a stranger.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 6, 2010 at Harbor of Hope Church with Pastor Richard Kingrea, Pastor Joe Cox, and Pastor Roy Turpin. Military Honors by V.F.W. Post #7854 & American Legion Post #127. Interment will follow in Howard Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday April 5, 2010 at Maberry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his wife Joyce for expenses.
